This project focused on industrial design for sustainability. Many products that we use in daily life are non-sustainable, and plastic plays a large part in the life cycle of almost every product. The goal was to use cardboard to create alternative products which can fulfil the same functions, thus increasing sustainability without sacrificing user experience.

I decided to target plastic children's toys. These toys are often used for a short time, then replaced or forgotten as children lose interest. I wanted to prove that it would be possible to replace nearly any plastic toy with a more sustainable cardboard option, so I challenged myself to make something that went beyond just a static model.

This dump truck toy functions how a version currently on the market would. And while it certainly is not as durable as a plastic toy, it would last long enough for a child to enjoy-- complete with the lack of guilt from plastic pollution.
